During these unprecedented times we are unable to provide the normal care that patients are used to. Our practice will remain open during normal working hours to provide advice to patients and where necessary provide care in the form of prescriptions for analgesics and antibiotics. Practices are working together and face to face consultations and treatment, if necessary, will be provided for clinically urgent problems at one of these practices after telephone consultation with a dentist.
If you are calling outside of normal hours and have an urgent dental problem, please consider if this could wait until the following day or over the weekend rather than accessing the out of hours services.
If you have an urgent dental problem out of hours and the problem is extremely severe please contact the out of hours service through NHS111.
If your dental problem includes uncontrolled bleeding and a swelling that is causing breathing problems this is an emergency and you should go to A&E.
Teeth can lose their natural whiteness for a number of reasons including diet, ageing, certain medications, smoking and trauma, but a noticeably brighter smile can be achieved with teeth whitening.
We offer Philips Zoom Whitening at Chapeltown. This treatment can be either at the practice or at home.
More people are choosing to have whitening kits made so they can whiten their teeth at their own pace. Whitening kits consist of a custom-made mouth tray that is filled with whitening gel. The snug fit of the tray makes sure that the gel covers every visible part of the tooth.
Home whitening kits they are more effective and also allow us to keep a close eye on your teeth, which can help avoid side effects such as gum irritation and tooth sensitivity.
This is also known as ‘laser’ bleaching and involves placing the whitening gel on your teeth and using a bright light to accelerate the whitening process. It takes under two hours and is ideal for those who want noticeable results more quickly.
You can help maintain the whiteness of your teeth by avoiding food and drink that may cause staining, and brushing your teeth at least twice a day.
Teeth whitening does not provide permanent results but home whitening trays can be reused if a top-up is necessary.
