Veneers

Veneers

Veneers offer a non-invasive method of concealing any discoloured, damaged or irregularly shaped teeth. Often compared to fake nails, veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit over the front of the teeth. Only a small amount of enamel needs to be removed, if any.

Treatment steps

  • We first assess whether or not you need any enamel removed from the tooth. If you do, we strip it away under local anaesthetic.
  • Once the tooth has been prepared, impressions are taken so a customised veneer can be manufactured. The colour of your teeth is also noted so it will blend in perfectly.
  • The veneer is bonded to your tooth with a strong dental adhesive.

Veneers are tough restorations but they can be damaged if not treated with care. Cut up hard foods before eating and do not open anything with your teeth, such as crisp packets or bottles, and avoid biting your nails or chewing pencils. In addition to these precautions, make sure you practice good oral hygiene and see your dentist regularly.
